TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       SUBSTITUTE

 

DOMAIN:  PLANNING

  1. Cooperate with school administration and faculty in formulating policies, standards, and objectives of the school health program

DOMAIN:  OPERATIONAL DUTIES

  1. Work with allied agencies in providing medical services.
  2. Develop and conduct programs of screening.
  3. Conduct periodic health appraisals, evaluations, and maintain follow-through on individual students.
  4. Provide appropriate medical and follow-up services.
  5. Act as health consultant and resource person.
  6. Assess environment of health and safety.
  7. Implement policies for emergency care, first aid, and administration of medication in cooperation with medical and administrative personnel.
  8. Act as a resource person for counseling with students regarding health career opportunities.
  9. Provide health counseling and guidance to pupils, parents, and school personnel.
  10. Shall examine children and investigate cases of head lice (genus pediculus) when requested by administrators.
  11. Participate in faculty meetings and serve on faculty committees.
  12. Help students achieve and maintain maximal health, thus allowing the student to function to the best of their capabilities-physically, emotionally, intellectually, educationally, and socially—by serving as an advocate for the student, promoting positive approaches to optimal health.
  13. Shall assist students with chronic health problems by assisting the student, the family, and school personnel and increase or maximize the student’s potential for participation in school and related activities.
  14. Perform other health or educational duties as established by the Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance and/or the Supervisor of Special Education for Assumption Parish in accordance with credentials.
  15. Assist in supervising of LPN and UAP employees.
  16. Perform any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or his designee.

DOMAIN:  COMMUNITY RELATIONS

  1. Serve as a liaison with parents, school, and community.
  2. Represent the school in health activities with professional organizations, civic groups, and community agencies.
  3. Coordinate all facets of the school health program within the school program and with the health program of the community.
  4. Adhere to Board policies and administrative rules and regulations.

 

DOMAIN:  ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY

  1. Adhere to district guidelines relative to attendance.
  2. Regularly report to work on time and work additional hours when deemed necessary.
  3. Contact supervisor when absent.
  4. Clock in/out and utilize time when appropriate.

DOMAIN:  SAFETY

  1. Complete tasks in a safe manner as prescribed by the Safety Department or by the employee’s profession/craft.
  2. Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
  3. Dress appropriately for the job assigned and in compliance with state law and Board policy GAMB Employee Dress Code.
  4. Display employee ID tag at all times on duty.
  5. Report any unsafe conditions or any incidents of injury or damage immediately to the appropriate official.
  6. Comply with policies on GAMA Employee Tobacco Use, Drug-Free Workplace, and use of cell phones when on duty.

DOMAIN:  COMMUNICATION

  1. Understand and interpret written and verbal instructions from immediate supervisor and give clear written and oral instructions to others as required.
  2. Accurately compile data, summarize information and provide written reports when required.
  3. Answer the telephone and receive visitors in a courteous and efficient manner.
  4. Follow the chain of command for various administrative procedures.

  1. Attend and constructively participate in meetings and professional development activities.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must hold a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
